Trolls: Original Move Picture Soundtrack is the soundtrack album to the 2022 DreamWorks Animation moving picture Trolls, released on September 23, 2022 by RCA Records. The soundtrack is produced primarily by vocalist Justin Timberlake, Max Martin, and Shellback. Information technology features piece of work from Timberlake himself, forth with Anna Kendrick, Ron Funches, Zooey Deschanel and Gwen Stefani, who all voice characters in the movie, likewise as Earth, Air current & Fire and Ariana Grande.[one] The anthology was certified Platinum in Commonwealth of australia and Double Platinum in the U.s.a.. The song "Can't Terminate the Feeling!" was nominated for an University Honour and won a Grammy Award.

Background [edit]

After being announced as the vox to the lead character in the musical comedy Trolls contrary Anna Kendrick,[ii] Billboard reported that Justin Timberlake also signed on to write and perform original music for the pic.[3] Timberlake said in an interview:

It kind of all happened at the aforementioned fourth dimension. I've been friends with the Katzenbergs for years, and Jeffrey had always spoken to me nigh doing a DreamWorks Animation film. I believe his line was, "We can't let Elton take all the fun," and I've always said, "If the right affair comes up, allow's do it." … The directors brought me to the DreamWorks campus and pitched me the moving-picture show and the character. And when I came out of the room Jeffrey was there, and he said, "And at that place'southward this other thing you could practice…"[four]

By the time Timberlake joined the projection, there was still some original music needed to exist written for the movie. Timberlake planned to cover the disco genre amongst the diverseness of popular songs present in the pic.[4] For the soundtrack anthology, Earth, Wind & Fire re-recorded "September" with Timberlake and Kendrick.[5]

Commercial performance [edit]

The soundtrack peaked at number one on the ARIA Charts,[6] 3 on the US Billboard 200 anthology chart, four on the New Zealand Albums Chart,[7] and iv on the UK Albums Chart.[8] It received Platinum certifications past the Recording Industry Association of America[nine] and the Australian Recording Industry Association,[10] and a Gold certification past the British Phonographic Industry.[11] In the Us, it has sold 573,000 copies past April 2017,[12] and was the year's tenth highest selling album in the country with 522,000 sold throughout 2017.[xiii]

The lead single, "Can't Stop the Feeling!" performed by Justin Timberlake, was released on May vi, 2016, and reached number one on the official charts of 17 countries, including the US Billboard Hot 100.[14]

In 2017, Trolls was ranked equally the 11th nearly popular album of the yr on the Billboard 200.[15]

2 years after the soundtrack was released, information technology was ranked equally the 80th most popular album of 2022 on the Billboard 200.[sixteen]

Accolades [edit]

Trolls was nominated for Best Soundtrack at the 2022 St. Louis Gateway Moving picture Critics Association.[17] For his work on the soundtrack, Justin Timberlake was nominated for Outstanding Music Supervision – Pic, along with Best Soundtrack From a Pic, at the 2022 Hollywood Music in Media Awards. At the ceremony, "Can't End the Feeling!" won Best Song Written for an Animated Film.[18] The album was nominated at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards for Summit Soundtrack/Cast Album[19] and at the American Music Awards for Top Soundtrack.[20]

"Tin can't Terminate the Feeling!" won the Grammy Award for All-time Song Written for Visual Media,[21] and was nominated for the University Award for Best Original Vocal.[22] Timberlake received the Hollywood Song Accolade for "Can't Stop the Feeling!" at the 2022 Hollywood Film Awards.[23] It was too nominated for the Aureate Globe Award for Best Original Vocal,[24] Critics' Option Award for Best Vocal,[25] and Satellite Laurels for All-time Original Song.[26]
